MARK BREWSTER

PRESIDENT

Mark Brewster is the President of Brewster Ambulance Service and Comprehensive Medical Teaching Institute (CMTI). The ambulance service has been in Mark’s blood since he was a kid—he started out sweeping floors and then worked his way to learn every aspect of the business and made it into a career. By 1993, Mark was an operations supervisor for the company and managed daily operations for 45 ambulances and 170 crew members in Brewster Ambulance Service’s South Division with three 911 systems.

Mark’s latest growth included the purchase of CMTI in 2016 to expand Brewster's in-house training capabilities and also have the ability to offer Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic programs to all employees.

 
 
 

KEITH WILSON, NRP, CCEMT-P, I/C

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Keith has been in this role since he founded the company back in 2009.  He brings a wealth of experience in the EMS industry, spanning over 25 years.  His journey began as a field paramedic for both Boston EMS and Brewster Ambulance Service.  In addition to his EMS background, Keith also serves as a career Fire Lieutenant in the Fire Service, providing invaluable leadership in emergency medical services.

Keith's educational achievements are equally impressive.  He graduated from UMBC Critical Care Para-medicine Program and Cape Cod Community College School of Paramedicine.  Furthermore, Keith attended the highly regarded Emergency Service Management Program at the University of Richmond, demonstrating his continued commitment to expanding his knowledge and expertise in the field.

In recognition of his accomplishments, Keith holds multiple EMS teaching credentials, further solidifying his position as an expert in Emergency Medical Services.

 
 

GARY SMITH, REMT-B

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Gary has been with CMTI since it first opened its doors in 2009 and has been Director of Operations for the past 8 years. He has been involved with EMS for almost 40 years starting his career with the Hanson Fire Department in 1980. Gary spent 35+ years with the department, 20 as the EMS Coordinator and 18 as a Lieutenant, before retiring in 2015. During his time as EMS Coordinator, he was instrumental in advancing the department’s EMS service from the basic life support level to the advanced life support-paramedic level. Gary was awarded the Old Colony/Plymouth EMS EMT-I of the Year award in 2001.

Gary has been married to his wife Debbie for the past 40 years, has two sons who are Firefighter/EMT-Ps, a daughter who is an Emergency Room Nurse, and six grandchildren.

 
 
 

DR. DANIEL MUSE

CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

Dr. Muse is a board-certified emergency physician who has over 30 years of experience in the field.  He has been practicing at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital for the last eleven years.  Dr. Muse has also served as EMS medical director overseeing 13 departments and agencies.  For the last five years, he has assisted the local district attorney’s offices in advising and training law enforcement agencies in the use of nasal naloxone.  This initiative was recently extended to school nurses and trainers in the Plymouth, Norfolk, and Middlesex County communities.  Dr. Muse also works with local communities speaking on the issue of substance abuse at schools and community organizations.  For the last four years, he has also served as a medical advisor for the Municipal Police Training Center.

 
 
 

Mike Giunta

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Mike is a paramedic and educator with over 30 years of experience.   Mike started his career working for Reardon Ambulance in Dorchester and volunteered at Boston Community Ambulance.  After a few years in the privates he joined the ranks of Boston EMS and served the city for 30 years as an EMT and paramedic.  He began teaching during his time at Boston EMS,  is a CPR, ACLS and PALS instructor and is part if the Affiliate Faculty at the Clinical Trainig Center at Boston Medical Center, and is a Mass OEMS Chief Examiner and both an ALS and BLS Examiner. Mike has taught multiple EMT and Paramedic classes at EMS Academy in Quincy where he served as a BLS I/C and Paramedic Program Director, and at National Medic Education Training Center as a lead paramedic instructor and then the Director of Operations.

Mike has worked at CMTI since February of 2023 as a lead paramedic instructor.

 
 
 

CHERYL AGNEW

EDUCATION MANAGER

Cheryl joined the CMTI Family in 2017. She has over 20 years of experience in EMS and Communications. Cheryl oversees the day-to-day operations in the education department here at CMTI as well as managing the Education Department at Brewster and Eascare Ambulance.

 
 
 

JAMES NEENAN

INSTRUCTOR STAFF

James is a current Mass EMT-P / over 40 years in Fire / EMS  / Bachelor of Science degree / have been with CMTI since 2015.

 
 
 

RYAN HICKEY

INSTRUCTOR STAFF

Ryan has been working in EMS since 2005. He worked for a private company on the north shore before being hired as an EMT at Boston EMS in 2007. He got his Paramedic certificate at Northeastern University In 2012, and has worked as a Paramedic at Boston EMS since 2014, where he is currently an ALS and BLS Field Training Officer. He is also an AHA, BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor. Ryan is also a Certified Tactical Paramedic and MA State EMT Examiner. Ryan has been with CMTI as an instructor since May 2018.

 
 
 

JOHN BELCHER

INSTRUCTOR STAFF

John began his EMS career in 1992 at Brewster Ambulance.  Additionally, he has worked for other agencies in the metro Boston area.  He returned to Brewster in 2015.  In addition to working per diem in the Quincy area, he consults on areas of CQI and Education. He is a graduate of Northeastern University with an Associate degree in Paramedic Technology along with a BS in Health Sciences. He is currently working on a Masters in Leadership.  Over the years he has taught many educational programs for both EMS and hospital staff alike.  He previously was an adjunct instructor at Northeastern University's Paramedic Program. 

He has additional experience in the hospital collaborating with surgeons to evaluate potential organ donors.  In this capacity, he has extensive experience with mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring modalities, and resuscitation.  He is a frequent lecturer in the field of organ donation.  He has served on the Board of Directors for two different related non-profit organizations.

 
 
 

EDWARD HENNEGAN

INSTRUCTOR STAFF

Ed started his EMS career in 1979, He has worked in both the private and municipal sectors. Also worked for Boston EMS rising to the rank of Captain. After Boston EMS, he went on to work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management as a planner. Ed has been an Instructor Coordinator and a State Examiner for more than 32 years.

 
 
 

CHRISTOPHER STRATTON

INSTRUCTOR STAFF

Chris is currently certified as an EMT-Paramedic. Chris has been involved with pre-hospital emergency care since 1975 starting with the Boston Ambulance Squad; He worked for several private ambulance companies including Brewster Ambulance; and also worked for and retired from the City of Boston EMS after 34 years of service. Chris has been with CMTI since 2012 and is currently working as an Instructor. 

 
 
 

Laura Tresca

Education Coordinator

Laura has been with CMTI since 2019. Her primary responsibility is to assist with our American Heart Association Training Center and assist with scheduling. She is also the coordinator for the American Heart Association programs.

 
 
 

Charles Bailey

Lead Instructor

Charles, also known as Chuck, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization.

Chuck's journey began as a U.S. Army Veteran, serving actively for six years. In 1993, he became an EMT and attended the Program of Paramedicine at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. His dedication and hard work led him to become a Nationally Registered Paramedic in 1996.

For several years, Chuck served as a Paramedic on M-5, an Advanced Life Support intercept unit that provided essential medical assistance to the City of Brockton and its surrounding communities. In 1999, he entered the Fire Service with the Franklin Fire Department, where he held the position of EMS Coordinator for five years before retiring in 2019.

Chuck's commitment to excellence prompted him to further his skill set. He attended the CONTOMS program offered by the United States Park Police at the Massachusetts State Police Academy, earning him the designation of EMT-Tactical. In recent times, Chuck embraced teaching and worked as a Mobile Integrated Health Paramedic for South Shore Hospital during the Pandemic.

Chuck holds a BA in Psychology from Dean College and maintains instructor certifications for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). Prior to joining our team, he served as the Assistant Education Manager at NMETC.

 
 
 

Katie Guarino

Clinical Coordinator

Katie has been the Clinical Coordinator and paramedic lecturer for the CMTI program since 2022.

Alongside her role with the program, she also works as a full-time Registered Nurse at Tufts Medical Center in the Cardiac Surgery ICU. Additionally, Katie is an active member of the Boston MedFlight Mentorship Program.

In 2021, Katie obtained her Paramedic licensure through the CMTI program, where she was part of the Paramedic 18 class. She completed her Bachelor in Health Science from Sacred Heart University in 2017 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2019.

Katie's experience in the field is extensive. She has been working as a CCRN-certified ICU and ER RN since 2019 and has been involved in EMS since 2013.

Katie's credentials and dedication to her work are truly remarkable. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every aspect of her role.

 
 
 

WILLIAM CUSHING

LAW ENFORCEMENT LIAISON

Billy has an impressive record of service, spanning 17 years, with the Braintree Police Department. He has consistently demonstrated outstanding professionalism, dedication, and distinguished achievements throughout his tenure. Notably, Officer Cushing has been honored with the prestigious George Hannah Award for Valor on two separate occasions, a testament to his unwavering commitment to public safety.

Officer Cushing's contributions extend beyond his department. He is highly regarded within the K9 community and the law enforcement field as a whole. For the past 11 years, Officer Cushing has excelled as a patrol K9 Handler, working alongside his trusted partner, K9 Kitt. Their remarkable partnership has showcased their exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe.
